  All wall sconces are hardwire only unless they come with a plug. Hardwire sconces come with back plates and screws for proper wiring. We recommend that our fixtures only be installed by a licensed electrician. Sconces from wood are heavily distressed and you should expect lot of variation and texture. During installation, it is possible to disturb the finish because of the gesso undercoat. Flaking of the finish is part of the gesso look. Wood dangles use a gesso undercoat that causes them to chip when bumped. This is part of the desired found effect we strive to create. It is not a defect. Metal Sconces are each hand painted and slightly chipped in the finish process to make them look old. Shades are all Euro style. Some wall lamps require smaller scale bulbs due to shade size and wattage is noted on the fixture. If the bulb sticks up over the shade, you need a smaller scale bulb like that of a ceiling fan bulb.
